The presentation will explore the design of a new mixed-use building—offices and aparthotel—conceived as a discreet yet emblematic insertion within Galați’s historic urban fabric. Through its compact volume, monochromatic façade, and balance between transparency and opacity, the project reflects a poetic reinterpretation of the idea of “home” within the city’s old merchant gardens. Located in the protected area of the Nicolae Bălcescu Urban Ensemble, the building harmonizes contemporary architectural language with the surrounding heritage context. The façade, clad in ventilated fibrecement panels that seamlessly continue as roofing, defines a unified envelope, while the interplay of light, materiality, and detail shapes a dialogue between the new and the historical.
